As we move further into the next industrial revolution with the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI), we have learned that this affects the voice over world as well. Real voices have been cloned and altered for newly created projects without the original talent’s knowledge or consent and companies with nefarious practices will continue to exploit voices into the future.
As a voice over talent, it’s my job to protect myself and other voice actors from these practices.

Here are my policies regarding AI Voice Overs. These are non-negotiable.

Client expressly agrees not to utilize any portion of the recording or performance of Talent for purposes other than those specified in the initial Agreement between the parties including but not limited to creation of synthetic voices or for machine learning.​

Specifically, Client shall not utilize any recording or performance of Talent to simulate Talent’s voice or likeness, or to create any synthesized or “digital double” voice or likeness of Talent. ​

Client specifically agrees not to sell or transfer ownership of all or part of any of the recordings or performance of Talent to any third party without Talent’s knowledge and consent.

Client agrees not to enter into any agreements or contracts on behalf of Talent which utilizes all or any part of any of the recordings or performance of Talent without Talent’s knowledge and consent.

Client agrees that any recordings or performances stored in digital format will be reasonably stored so that unauthorized third parties may not gain access to the files containing Talent’s voice or likeness, and if such files are stored in “the cloud.” Client agrees to safeguard the same through encryption or other “up-to date” technological means.

When it comes to voice overs, I aim to get it right the first time. That being said, collaboration sometimes calls for a second pass. Here’s how I handle retakes, pickups, and revisions to make sure your project sounds exactly how you need it to.
Q: What’s the difference between a retake and a revision?
A: A retake covers performance or pacing changes based on direction that was in the original script. A revision involves changes to the script itself after the initial recording.
Q: How many revisions are included?
A: One round of minor revisions (under 10% of the script) is included in most projects. Larger rewrites or direction changes may require a new quote.
Q: What if I want a different read after hearing the first version?
A: If the original direction was followed, additional reads can be done at a reduced rate. My goal is to ensure you’re 100% happy with the final product.
Q: How quickly can you turn around a revision?
A: Minor pickups are usually delivered within 24–48 hours, depending on workload and project size.
