Voice Over Retakes & Revisions Policy

Retakes

If I’ve made a mistake, it’s on me. I’ll fix it and send it at no extra charge.

Revisions

If you have decided to make changes to the script after I have recorded the original script, that’s another story.

  • Minor Revisions (one or two words): $50

  • Major Revisions (more than two words): $100 minimum

  • Re-Reads (changes to 30% or more of the original script): Original rate

Performance Retakes (Undirected Sessions)

If I am recording the files in my studio by myself with no additional direction from you or your associates, and you need me to re-do lines for performance reasons, I’m happy to do one round of Performance Retakes at no cost.

Please try to communicate any and all direction and/or change of direction at this time. After the first round of retakes, subsequent rounds are charged as Revisions, above.

If retakes are required for pronunciation preferences that are not specified in advance either by a pronunciation guide or otherwise in writing, these will be treated as Revisions and are billable (Eg: “day-ta” vs. “da-ta,”  “off-ten” vs. “off-en,” “oh” vs. “zero”).

When sending a change request, please highlight the lines in the original script or list the full sentence to be re-recorded, the sentence before, and the sentence after so I know what I’m talking about. If applicable, please include the time index of the video so I can better match tone and pace.

Please submit all change requests within 30 days of receiving the original recording. After 30 days, any and all change requests will be charged the original rates.

New & International Clients

New domestic (US) and all international clients are billed upfront unless otherwise agreed upon.

Frequently Asked Questions About Retakes and Revisions

When it comes to voice overs, I aim to get it right the first time. That being said, collaboration sometimes calls for a second pass. Here’s how I handle retakes, pickups, and revisions to make sure your project sounds exactly how you need it to.

Q: What’s the difference between a retake and a revision?
A: A retake covers performance or pacing changes based on direction that was in the original script. A revision involves changes to the script itself after the initial recording.

Q: How many revisions are included?
A: One round of minor revisions (under 10% of the script) is included in most projects. Larger rewrites or direction changes may require a new quote.

Q: What if I want a different read after hearing the first version?
A: If the original direction was followed, additional reads can be done at a reduced rate. My goal is to ensure you’re 100% happy with the final product.

Q: How quickly can you turn around a revision?
A: Minor pickups are usually delivered within 24–48 hours, depending on workload and project size.
